hey so i've started work! been there 4 times so far.. did wedding dinners, company Dinner&Dance. stepping outta my comfort zone to work has been really.. different? especially as a waitress i gotta meet many kinds of people, be it them appearing as my superior, colleagues or guests. although it has only been 4 days at work, i guess it indeed does broaden my horizon by quite a large extent. some people aren't really as nice as they seem on the outside, sadly..all along, my mindset has always been like ' whoever-that-comes-to-me-is-a-nice-person-and-means-no-harm'.. to put it simply.then i realised that it may not be true all the time ):nothing serious happened to me, just observed that from the surroundings.haha anyway! Waimin and Peishi are my colleagues! Hocksing as well!our Boss is called Anthony. quite an interesting guy.. everyone calls him Anthony. his colleagues, even his subordinates. some call him 'ang dao ni' behind his back.. means Red Bean Paste in Hokkien i think! or Red Soya Bean Milk! haha :pme: Mr Anthony, here's my POSB account.. (gives him the numbers)Anthony: don't call me Mr Wong or Mr Anthony. i'm paid to do my job as well. so no Mr. thanks. see you later *was totally stunned when i read his reply*his son, Darren, who's also a waiter at the country club, is Waimin's and my mentor!i think i've really let him down man. i don't dare to debone fish, i don't dare to portion out the rice/noodles. every little thing that i don't know i ask him.. really grateful that he hasn't flared up so far and in fact being real patient with me. i've tried not to approach him that much already but each time he notices that i'm quite lost he'll offer his assisstance. that's why i feel quite bad cos i'm always troubling him when he's busy. sigh.. on the other hand, Waimin is very very independent! she's a fast learner and can handle stuff very well. that's my TM (:during my previous shift, Anthony told me something that made me extremely touched.. it might not have been a long long speech but it made me feel quite appreciated there for the first time.Anthony: jade i'm sorry these few days i don't have time to train you..me: nono it's okay.. i'm really sorry i like bring you all a lot of trouble..Anthony: no please don't say that.. (and he went off to serve the guests)ahh. imagine a Big Boss saying that to a lowly waitress.. haha i'm not saying that i'm 'dua pai' but yea.. it shows how nice Anthony is. i think the way he treats his workers is rather sincere though sometimes he does throw temper. lucky to have such a nice boss at my first job :Dhaha more details about collleagues are on Waimin's blog!some interesting things that happened during work..we were all assigned to take charge of two tables each, meaning you'll have to 'take care' of the guests sitting at the tables that you're in charge of.. like refilling their drinks, serve them food etc.therefore naturally, you'll have to stay around the tables! the tables have to be within your scope of vision and vice versa, you'll have to be within the guests' scope of vision.when i was on standby, an uncle sitting in front of me signalled and i went forward.."wah 小姐,我跟你很有缘,一直看到你.."*stunned for awhile and laughed then walked away.. and once again on standby.*and then there was this vegetarian wedding dinner.. an uncle (again) signalled to me.."小姐,为什么吃来吃去都是一样的菜?把肥肉端上来 lei! ""huh? 哈哈这个晚宴是素的.."*his wife starts whispering to me*"你去厨房hor,拿一块肉给他就好了!"*the people sitting near to them started laughing hysterically.. and i did the same*wow. my guests are kinda fun. and weird.. hahaall right, shan't go on anymore haha. this post seems like it's.. for my own entertainment.. so sorry.. haha till then (:a wall, a fence, and a knot.
